Sweet Beans
Special sweet treat

Sweet beans, or Habichuelas con Dulce, are a traditional Dominican dish, usually served at Easter - but it can be done any time of the year!
Ingredients:
4 cups or 2 cans of pinto beans
2 cans of evaporated milk
3 1/2 cans of whole or 2% milk (use the evaporated milk cans to measure)
1 can of condensed milk
1 cup of Muscovado or regular brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
Ground cinnamon to taste
Ground nutmeg to taste
Pinch of salt
Preparation:
1. Place a large pot on medium heat, and add the evaporated milk.
2. Add the condensed milk, and the whole or 2% milk, and stir well.
3. Add the beans, and mix together.
4. Add the cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg.
5. Add a pinch of salt, stir well.
6. Cook on medium heat for 25-30 minutes, stirring every ten minutes, until it reduces.
Serve hot or cold. Enjoy!
